QA473

2 Question 473

As salaamu alaykum.
What's the ruling on observing Solah behind a young boy that is below the age of puberty.

Answers to 473

Q 473.
If no other person that can lead Solat expect him, there is nothing wrong in that, the prophet said the children should be beaten at age of 10, they refuse to observe Solat at that age, mostly 10 year is not the age of puberty.
And age of puberty is not one the conditions the prophet mentions to be observed in Imaamah (Leadership):
Abu Sa'id al-Khudri reported Allah''s Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying:
"When there are three persons, one of them should lead them. The one among them most worthy to act as Imam is one who is best versed in the Qur''an."
 Allah knows best!

Waalaykum salaam. The scholars have different opinion on the issue but the strongest opinion is that one can pray behind him if knows how to pray.
